RE/MAX balloon program coming to Northport school

Students at Northport Public School this Friday will have the unique chance to learn about the science behind a hot air balloon and how it works. Through the RE/MAX of Michigan school balloon program, a balloon pilot visits schools like Northport to share either an indoor or outdoor science presentation, along with an outdoor inflation demonstration.

Guests at Maggie and Walter Campillo’s recent birthday party were able to play “pin the tail on the donkey” with Herb, the family donkey. No harm was done to the animal as tape was used to affix the tail. “No children or animals were harmed,” their father, Sean said. “All was in good fun.”

Voters to decide fate of 2 school proposals

Voters in the Suttons Bay Public School district will head to the polls Tuesday to decide the fate of a $18.34 million bond proposal for facility improvements. The bond proposal passage would allow the district to address issues related to “campus safety and security, energy utilization and management, replacement of boilers, and removal and replacement of infrastructure that is outdated, reached the end of its expected service life, or in a state of disrepair, according to Casey Petz, school superintendent.

Missing woman found safe

A missing Centerville Township woman was found Friday after a search which included use of K-9 and drone. Deputies responded to a report Friday afternoon in reference to a missing female Alzheimer patient who went for a walk about 10 a.m.
