Stephen Raymond Plamondon, 68, of Traverse City passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Stephen was born on August 21, 1955 in Traverse City to the late Albert and Loretta (Fabiszak) Plamondon.

He was a 1973 graduate of St. Mary Catholic School in Lake Leelanau. He later earned an Associate’s Degree from Ferris State University. He married the love of his life, Virginia Lamie on May 14, 1977 in Suttons Bay. They were happily married for 47 years.

Stephen was everyone’s handyman; he was passionate about his work and craftsmanship. He worked in construction all of his life. Owning S.P. Construction for many years and later as a foreman for Grand Traverse Construction, retiring in 2021. Always willing to lend a hand, Stephen found joy in mentoring others and sharing his knowledge.

Stephen was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, as well as the Knights of Columbus. He bowled in the K of C league for many years. Known for his friendly smile and great sense of humor, he also had a deep love for music, often asking, ‘Who’s this?’

Above all, his family was his pride and joy. Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Virginia, his children; Regina (Michael) Gretzmacher, Louis (Amy) Plamondon, Annette ( Joshua) Send and Grace (Ryan) Hannon, his grandchildren; Joseph, Cameron, Payton, Christian, Ethan, Kendall, Julia, Caleb, Macy, Lucas, Lars, Jackson and Henry as well as a greatgranddaughter on the way. Also surviving are his siblings; Rita Dittrich, Sr. Maxine Plamondon, Sr. Beatrice Plamondon, Shirley Priest, Arnold Plamondon, Helen Lautner, Michael Plamondon, Audrey Ritter, Mary Potvin and Joan Plamondon and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Loretta Plamondon, an infant brother, Herbert Plamondon, a sister, Irene Kilcherman, a niece, Danita Kilcherman and nephew, Kenneth Priest.

Friends are welcome to visit with Stephen’s family from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St. Traverse City, Michigan 49684. There will be a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 308 N. Cedar St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684. Rev. Anthony Citro will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial donation to Habitat for Humanity – Grand Traverse Region, 2487 Rice St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684.
