A pair of hat-tricks led Suttons Bay over Glen Lake last Wednesday in a 8-0 win. Suttons Bay strikers Megan U’Ren and Lauren Lint couldn’t miss the net as they combined for six goals in the win.

Northwest Conference golf teams competed in the last regular season conference match at the Leland Country Club on Tuesday. Glen Lake won the match, with a ñve-person team score of 176, followed by Benzie Central (185), Frankfort (190), Leland (198), and Kingsley (217).

Glen Lake is clearing out more space in its trophy case as the Laker baseball team captured its third conference championship in a row after defeating Benzie Central on Tuesday night. “We won three conference championships in a row and then finished 2nd for six straight years, so it feels good to finally break through and get one again,” Glen Lake baseball coach Kris Herman said.

Glen Lake junior Colebrook Sutherland broke the school record in the two-mile that has stood tall since 1999 at a Northwest Conference race hosted by Buckley on Monday. Sutherland beat the record of Justin Kibbey set back in another century with a time of 9:51.

The thirteenth annual Rotary International Club – Leelanau, “Event to Remember” honored Glen Lake icon teacher and coach Don Miller on Friday at the Leland Lodge. “I can say with conviction we’ve had the most ideal life,” he said during an acceptance speech.

It was a perfect day on the diamond as local baseball and softball teams wore shades of pink and competed at the annual Kris Popp tournament hosted by Lake Leelanau St. Mary Saturday.

Glen Lake tied Buckley 3-3 Monday in an entertaining game on the pitch. Lake striker Abbi Steffke led with two goals and an assist, while Ava Raymond chipped in a goal herself.
