The kickoff off for the third annual Leelanau County Relay for Life will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the fire station in Suttons Bay.

Committee members will gather to discuss plans for the 2010 Relay, which is scheduled for July 23-24 at the Suttons Bay athletic field.

At the Relay, the American Cancer Society’s signature event, the community celebrates cancer survivors and remembers those lost to the disease.

Over the past two years, the 24-hour event has raised nearly $100,000 for the Cancer Society.

The public is welcome to attend the kickoff and learn more about plans for the event while enjoying light refreshments.

The fire station is located at 201 St. Marys Ave. Parking is available on the north and south ends of the station, and along St. Marys Ave.
