Two of the three Leelanau County teams that participated in the regional Horse Bowl competition hosted last month at Glen Lake School have advanced to state competition.

One of the teams was crowned champion in the senior division, and another took first in the junior regular division. Both will participate in the state Horse Bowl competition being held at Michigan State University on April 17.

The team members of the regional championship senior team are Leanne Bregni, Karyn Otto, Chelsey Phelps and Emma Talbot. Members of the first-place junior regular team included Aurelia Guest, Eleanor Hill, Jesse Hood and Hayden Talbot.

A third team comprised of Maddie Bredin, Maggie Helfrich, Bryanne Palmer and McKenna Turril placed second in the junior novice division.

The Horse Bowl is a quiz contest made up of questions pertaining to horse topics.
