Josephine A. Richter
1909-2010
Burial will be in the spring at Keswick Maple Grove Cemetery in Bingham Township for Josephine Amelia Richter of Suttons Bay who died Feb. 19 at Tendercare of Leelanau. She was 100.
She was born June 23, 1909 in Bingham Township, the daughter of Edward and Amelia (Donner) Richter.
She graduated from Suttons Bay’s Union School as well as Michigan State University and Ferris State University where she received her master’s degree. She spent her life teaching grade school students. She loved little children and taught first grade at Traverse City Central for many generations of students. She was an avid reader and always stayed up to date on current event.
She is survived by her siblings, Edna Richter, Rose Send and Blanche Priest.
She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Cyrus Richter, William Richter, and Julius Richter; and a sister, Hannah Smith.
