Compensation for officials in Glen Arbor Township will remain flat in 2010-11.

The township board adopted a resolution from its compensation advisory committee that included no salary increases for the three township officers and two township trustees.

“There were no salary increases recommended,” Supervisor John Soderholm said Wednesday morning by phone.

Barring action from those attending the township Annual Meeting in March, compensation will remain at this year’s levels. A 3.7 percent increase was given to the positions of supervisor, clerk and treasurer last spring. That brought pay to the following levels: supervisor, $18,900; treasurer, $27,000; and clerk, $31,000.

Likewise, the trustees will continue being compensated at this year’s level of $2,700.

Soderholm said there was no change recommended for an annual stipend provided to board members for use toward health insurance. The officers will receive $500 apiece in 2010-11, while the trustees will get $100.

In other business during the regular monthly meeting, the board agreed to hold a special meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday to continue work on the 2010-11 budget.

Initial discussion includes talk of a reduction of expenses for the township park/restroom, which was completed during the current budget year. Smaller capital expenses are anticipated in 2010-11, Soderholm said. They include the paving of Day Forest Road, which saw increased traffic during reconstruction of the Narrows Bridge last year. Although the township chose not to pursue plans for a public sewer system this year, money will be earmarked to install wells to monitor the quality of groundwater in specific areas, the supervisor said.

Revenue is expected to be flat in 2010-11 given the state’s poor economic forecast, which will result in a reduction in state shared revenue.

The new fiscal year begins April 1.
