Three candidates are seeking two seats available on the Northport Board of Education in the May 4 election.

It represents the only contested election in the county in which school board seats which will decided.

Incumbent Northport board president Denise Branch is hoping to retain her seat for another 3-year term. Also filing nominating petitions for the two other available seats are Robert Bergdoll and Jennifer Walter, both of Northport. Incumbent Susan Cordes did not seek re-election.

There will be two new members on the Glen Lake Board of Education. Neither longtime member and current board president Roger Mikowski nor Trustee Frank Skrocki is seeking re-election. Filing nominating petitions prior to Tuesday’s 4 p.m. deadline were newcomers Jennifer Omerza of Empire and Patrick Middleton of Maple City.

Incumbent Terri LaCroix-Kelty is the lone applicant for one 3-year seat on the Suttons Bay school board.

The deadline to register to vote in the May election is April 5.
