4 county skiers named to All-State teams
Three members of the cooperative county ski team and a fourth racer who’s also from Leelanau were selected to the Michigan High School Coaches Association’s 2010 All-State ski teams.
Glen Lake senior Jack Kerby-Miller was named to the first team in both slalom and giant slalom. He finished third in the state in slalom and fifth in giant slalom (GS) at the Division 2 state championships last month.
Suttons Bay’s Shannon McGovern, who also skied on the cooperative team, was named to the first team in slalom. Teammate Christina Rennie, a sophomore at Leland and cooperative team member, was named to the second team in GS. McGovern finished sixth in the state ski championships in slalom and Rennie was 21st.
“This is a very prestigious honor to be selected to these teams,” Glen Lake ski coach Mark Fisher said. “Jack, Shannon and Christina have put in countless hours and days of hard work to accomplish this feat. Congratulations to them for their hard work and devotion to the sport they love.”
Stephen Siddall, an Empire resident attending Traverse City St. Francis, was named a first team All-Stater in GS and was a second team selection in slalom. He finished fourth in the state championships in GS and seventh in slalom.
